18 Things I Love about Marikina Sports Park

To hasten things up a bit in my goal to attain a fit body, i added jogging to my regimen. But jogging on the street did me no good since a lot of vehicles produces smog which makes the streets unconducive for this exercise. Good thing the Sports Park in our city has an oval.

The Marikina Sports Park has become my arena day and night and helped me execute my goal. I love this park and here's 18 things you might also love about it.

The Victory Arch
1. The Park is located in the heart of the city. It is near the city hall, the public market and the post office. Very easy to find and reach. What i really like about it is that it is very near from where i live and i can reach it by just walking. It also has transport terminals nearby making it easy for commuters.

2. The Park is open nearly 24 hours a day. Nearly because it closes at 2am and opens again at 4am. This is really great especially if you have no time to train during the day or you just want a run early in the morning.

3. The facility is very health firendly. Although the park is situated along 2 major roads which means that these are busy roads, trees block the pollution and you can never feel the busyness of the streets inside.

A lot of trees covers much of the perimeter

4. Entrance fee to the park is only 10 Pesos.

5. Lockers are available at 30 Pesos.

6. Parking is free but slots are limited and comes in a 'first-come-first-serve' basis.

7. The park has an olympic size oval and a bike lane for cyclists.

The Oval

The grey lane on the left is reserved for cyclists

Lanes are labeled and are in good condition

8. They have courts for basketball, volleyball and badminton. You may rent any of the courts at certain fees.

Infront of the west gradstand are the 2 basketball courts, the volleyball court and the badminton court.

9. They have a Sports building which serves a lot of indoor events such as table tennis, karate, indoor basketball, yoga sessions, aerobics, etc.

I dont like the building's design but it serves well.
It also makes a good zombie-apocalypse background. lol

10. They have an olympic size pool. Although you have to pay another fee to enter the pool.

11. Simple exercise machines are provided.

This machine is for your legs

12. Playgrounds for children are also present. You can leave them here while you're on your way to do your laps.

These robots look pretty familiar

13. Water stations are located everywhere. This is great if you wanted to wash your hands, foot or if you just wanted to freshen up.

Im just not sure if this water is good for drinking

14. Comfort rooms or toilets are free and are very well maintained. Some even have showers which are great after games or workouts.

15. Food stations are avaliable and good foods can be bought at very reasonable prices.

16. Event Board is posted at the entrance and updated regularly. This is very essential especially for guys like me with busy schedules. :P

17. Classes such as taekwondo lessons, swimming, dance, and lots more are available. You may call them for schedules and fees.

18. The park has a gym but is owned by someone else. Its fees are; 60 Pesos per session and 600 for a monthly session but that doesnt include the instructor. For me its not affordable, Im just glad that they have a gym. :)

There are s hundred more things to love about this park but the 18 above are reasons enough to be.

I rate my City's Park 10 out of 10 laps.
