We decided that we jog together every Sunday morning since its the only time our schedules permit.
Being a practical guy that he is, he do his sprints along the river banks. I've been wishing to jog here too but only when im with somebody since i've never tried jogging alone and on the streets before. Its a really great idea not just because its free (unlike my arena) but i'ts a haven for joggers and runners.
The river banks, also called Marikina River Park, is intended for public use. It has concrete roads designed to be used only by pedestrians and cyclist. No vehicles allowed, except on the other side (wider road) which is used for vehicle passages. This rid of the smoke and pollution i've been avoiding on the streets. The banks are also full of trees on the side and the road is maintained by street sweepers everyday. If that's not enough, perhaps the clean river (yes, I said clean), the beautiful scenery and the serenity of it's ambience might give you the kick you need.

We've been using the "Animal Trail" route when jogging because its trail has lesser obstruction. The other side sometimes gets busy with cyclist and skateboarders plus some parts of the trail are low and gets muddy when the water rises.

We start at the front of Youth Camp and make our way to The RiverBanks Mall (a mall on Barangka Marikina) through the Animal Trail and back. This trail gives you a sight of animal statues along the way and although i didnt like these statues, they will provide you something to talk about. The roundtrip jog is approximately 10 kilometers or 40 minutes in a comfortable pace.

The experience is priceless. You get to jog while enjoying nature's offers plus you get these for free. You might just need to watch out for the weather. We ended up jogging under the rain one time but nevertheless, it's a refreshing feeling. You might also want to bring a friend with you especially since few people jog there and it gets a little lonely in some parts.
I might have 18 reasons why I love Marikna Sports Park, but I guess the experience in this jog rates the banks more than the Park.
